14 DAY TRIAL // Until just now, no one had any idea as to what made Tony Romo break up with his girlfriend of almost two years precisely on the eve of her 29th birthday and when he knew she had planned a big Barbie and Ken-themed party for them to attend. One of the reasons that prompted him to act this way towards Jessica Simpson seems to have been her love for “adult beverages” and the embarrassing situations she got herself in, Fox News says.
According to insiders close to the former couple, Romo broke off with the elder Simpson sister because of peer pressure, since all his pals and relatives insisted with him that she was not right for him, and definitely not the girl he would want to marry. But that was not all, spies say, as Jessica’s drunken ways also contributed to the embarrassment Romo felt when he went out in public with her and she could not control herself.
“Jessica would get really drunk and obnoxious, it was out of control. She would be sprawled everywhere with her head on his lap and the look on Tony’s face said it all. He was so embarrassed in front of all the guys and his teammates were really harsh on him over it. Breaking up was a really hard decision for Tony to make.” Fox News writes, citing the ever-reliable, anonymous sources.
However, even if Jessica was a bit too loose around alcohol, he did love her and, therefore, find it very hard to break things off with her the way he did. As everybody he knew tried to talk him into dumping her, he stood by her, defended her and tried to make their relationship work, the same tipsters say, but, in the end, a straw came that broke the camel’s back and he could not take it anymore. So, Romo decided a break would be the best idea for the both of them, no matter how much it hurt.
“We’re also told that the Dallas Cowboy really did love the pop princess and ‘fought for her’ with his skeptical friends, but in the end, it got to a point where it just didn’t make sense for him to stay in the relationship. But in Simpson’s defense, a friend from her camp told [Fox News] that she doesn’t drink too much, and that there were numerous issues going on between them before Romo said his goodbyes. ‘She was devastated and it did come as a shock, however,’ added the source.” Fox News further says of the failed romance.
