Battlefield 3 has received more information during the Electronic Arts E3 2011 press conference, including a release date as well as two impressive trailers, showcasing the power of the Frostbite 2 engine as well as an extremely impressive tank battle.

Lately we've been hearing plenty of things about Battlefield 3, with EA heavily hyping its upcoming first-person shooter in front of its huge rival, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Now, during the E3 2011 conference, Electronic Arts, together with DICE, the studio that is developing Battlefield 3, have presented quite a lot of information about the game.

“We are proud to finally open the curtains and reveal Battlefield 3. The core development team has been together since 2005. We’ve grown together, taken some knocks together and now, we’re ready to take first person shooters to a whole new level, together,” said Patrick Bach, executive producer.

“Like so many gamers out there, we’ve had some pretty wild ideas about what we’d want to see in a shooter. Until now, it was all just fantasy. But with Frostbite 2, even our most far-reaching ideas are becoming a reality. This is the game we’ve always wanted to create.”

First up, Battlefield 3 is going to appear on October 25, 2011, which is pretty far from the launch date of Modern Warfare 3, on November 8. This gives it quite a lot of breathing room and a few solid weeks in which it can amaze gamers with its single-player campaign as well as with the multiplayer one.

Speaking of an online mode, DICE also confirmed that Battlefield 3 will receive a multiplayer beta stage on all platforms, including PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which is out during September.

The two playable characters in Battlefield 3 have also been revealed, in the form of Dmitri “Dima” Mayakovsky, "a Russian undercover agent, must fight his way from the Paris Stock Exchange through the crowded city streets in a desperate attempt to stop PLR operatives from detonating a dirty bomb in the heart of Paris," and Jonathan “Jono” Miller, "a Marine Corporal from America’s heartland, who is deployed to the barren dustbowl of the Tehran desert to engage PLR forces."

In order to properly showcase how beautiful Battlefield 3 looks, a special video was revealed, focusing on the improvements found in the Frostbite 2 engine, while a gameplay demonstration was held on the stage of EA's E3 conference, both of which you can enjoy below.
