Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, after receiving a bombastic gameplay video and some relatively official details yesterday, now has a concrete release date from Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games, its developers, and Activision, its publisher.

Modern Warfare 3 was rumored for quite some time, and even saw some major leaks occur in the last few weeks.

Now, the game has been made official by Activision, alongside Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games, the two studios that are behind it, and even received an official release date of November 8, this year.

As you can imagine, the companies are quite excited about the new shooter and confident that it will once again drive the genre, and even the industry, forward, just like its predecessors.

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is by far the most epic Call of Duty experience yet. The teams at Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games have worked tirelessly to create for the Call of Duty player a scale that is unimaginable with a level of polish and creativity that will push the genre forward," said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 picks up from where Modern Warfare 2 left off, hinting, through the video released yesterday, that humanity is on the verge of World War 3, and only a few people can prevent it by engaging in dangerous missions all over the world, from the US, to England, France or Germany.

"The passion and energy of our developers is reflected in everything about the title. From the innovative gameplay, to the cinematic intensity, to the most advanced multiplayer ever, Modern Warfare 3 will raise the bar for this already incredible franchise."

The game, as of yet, is confirmed for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but might also appear on platforms like the Nintendo Wii or DS.
