After plenty of teasing and quite a few information leaks, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has just received its first actual gameplay trailer, which aired on TV during last night's NBA Western Conference Finals.

Activision teased its next Call of Duty title a few weeks ago, saying to the legions of fans that something exciting was being prepared for them.

Shortly after that, the leaks of information started happening, first with the logo and possible box art, and then with full details about its gameplay, campaign, story and lots of other things.

Now, after Activision admitted that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be its next shooter, and after it released a series of trailers hinting at the locations its campaign will feature, the first full gameplay video is now available.

In the trailer that you can see below, Modern Warfare 3 depicts some of its most important set piece moments, with explosions, firefights and lots of other things being showcased in quick succession.

The main locations, including the US, England, France or Germany, are also featured, each with some unique traits, but most of them depicting similar urban environments, confirming previous information that Modern Warfare 3 is going to focus on battles inside cities.

There are also a few moments showcasing underwater infiltrations, submarines and a chase on powerboats throughout some sort of harbor, so we can expect this moment to be similar to the snowmobile chase sequences in Modern Warfare 2.

After the events from its predecessor, America is in disarray, but it seems that its military forces are still more than capable of mounting an offensive against the invading forces.

The overall tone of the video hints that the alternate reality featured by Modern Warfare 3 might be on the verge of World War 3, so players need to go through all sorts of adventures in order to stop this from happening.

The blurb at the end of the video mentions not just the developer of the whole Call of Duty series, Infinity Ward, but also Sledgehammer Games, meaning Activision's recently founded studio is also pitching in to get it ready for release later this year.

Expect more details about the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 throughout the week. Until then, enjoy the first video of the game below.
