Electronic Arts praised the upcoming Battlefield 3 first-person shooter during a recent investors meeting, saying that the new title is flat-out superior to Call of Duty, the most profitable shooter franchise in history, released by its rival, Activision.

EA posted a loss for the beginning of 2011, but is certain that the upcoming Battlefield 3 title will put all of its competitors to shame, at least according to Frank Gibeau, the president of the EA Games label, via SeekingAlpha.

"The game is built on our brand-new Frostbite 2 Engine. It takes the battle to an urban landscape with dynamic weapons, destructible environments, vehicular warfare and a team oriented multiplayer that provides a highly competitive social experience."

As you can imagine, the biggest rival for Battlefield 3 is the new Call of Duty game, which might be detailed by Activision at the beginning of next week, in its own investors call.

However, Gibeau is confident that Battlefield 3 has all the right attributes to be a flat-out superior game to whatever new Call of Duty title is going to be released.

"We know we had a big competitor, but head-to-head with Call of Duty in Q3, we have the superior game engine, superior development studio and a flat-out superior game... Come and see for yourself. We'll be showing brand new code and features at E3, I encourage everyone to make time for Battlefield 3."

In order to back up his statements, Gibeau told investors that pre-orders for Battlefield 3, which have been registered for just a few weeks, are up more than 700 percent, versus the same period before the launch of the previous Battlefield: Bad Company 2, last year.

The new title impressed a lot of gamers through a recent 12-minute video, which showcased all of the game's great features, even managing to intrigue the studio behind last year's Call of Duty: Black Ops, Treyarch.
