OK, this does it! It's the 6th time in three months that I see a top ten video game female characters list and no Lara Croft to be found anywhere. Not even number 10 for crying out loud! Here's the list from number 10 to number 1 (just like the Miss pageant) as posted by Shiny Shiny - a girl's guide to gadgets:

10. Claire Redfield from Resident Evil
9. Yorda from Ico
8. Princess Zelda from The Legend of Zelda
series
7. Kreia from Knights Of The Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
6. Mia Fey from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
5. Yuna from Final Fantasy
4. Samus Aran from Metroid (now we're talking)
3. Jade from Beyond Good and Evil
2. Carla Valenti from Fahrenheit
1. Jill Valentine from Resident Evil

So let me get this straight: there's no female video game character in the whole wide world that looks better than Jill Valentine from Resident Evil at this point right? Come on! She's got all her clothes on. I'm not implying that a female character with all her clothes on isn't sexy and all, but what is the criteria here? Attitude? I'm not in love with Lara Croft or anything, but she's got it all going on better than Jill Valentine.

- looks: big chest, big fleshy lips, round buttocks and a voice that makes your spine shiver with excitement;
- equipment: guns are Lara Croft's middle name: assault M16 rifle, two handguns that she's never caught without (well maybe those stages where you have to do without any weapons at all but they don't count), grenade launcher, I could go on forever;
- attitude: all female characters have a great line or two but Lara's got all the cool superhero lines, incredible sarcasm and subtle sense of humor and when someone's stepped on her toes, they better be miles away before she grabs her handguns.

Why do you think they chose only the best-looking actress in the world to make the Tomb Raider movies anyway? All this being said, you don't have to take my word for it, but if you feel the same, please write your opinions in the comments column, I'm dying to see what everyone else thinks about this.

This is blasphemy!!! How can some game bimbo be better than Lara Croft!... Some nerves the person had to put Jill Valentine at the top spot. Come on... she looks like a nanny compared to Lara.

Seriously, being a fan of Tomb Raider since the debut of the original, I believe that even though not number one, Lara Croft should be on there SOMEWHERE. Hell, I dont even know half the chicks on there.

...And how can anyone from Final Fantasy be stronger, sexier, or meaner than Lara Croft?

...Duh.

You've managed to completely miss the point, which was to compile a list of female characters that wasn't based solely on hotness. None of those characters were chosen because of looks. Attitude is important, and being a strong, compelling character is even more so. Lara Croft's hyper-sexualization is exactly what got her disqualified from the list. Next time try doing something more than just looking at the pictures of the article, and you might get it.

But Lara is the most famous and has the most character. Her adventures have captivated thousands and she always does it with a kick-ass humorous attitude.
