Paramount already hired a scriptwriter

Looks like Crystal Dynamics will keep on turning the Tomb Raider wheel some more, as they have just revealed that they are planning a next-gen Tomb Raider game.

In a Eurogamer TV interview, Ian Livingstone from Eidos confirmed that Crystal Dynamics is already in development for a Tomb Raider next-gen title. From what Livingstone reveals, the game looks spectacular, to die for: "I've seen some of the in-game models and it's just like watching television; if you felt you were in love with Lara Croft previously, you ain't seen nothing yet. You'll be drooling when you see the new Lara as she appears in the next iteration."

Livingstone uses some big words like "in love" and "drool", but I guess if you hook-up a next-gen, may it be a PS3 or a Xbox 360, to a HDTV, you could fill a few buckets of saliva. No exact release date has been revealed, but in the mean time, you can enjoy the Tomb Raider 10th Anniversary game, which will be unveiled soon.

Eurogamer also has some hope for Angelina Jolie fans, who might get a chance to see her (and no Brad Pitt this time) in the third Tomb Raider game. Apparently, there have been some talks with Paramount, who have already agreed to assign a scriptwriter. Livingstone adds that this doesn't mean that a third Tomb Raider movie is in the works, but it represents a big step, as a big company like Paramount isn't gonna pay a scriptwriter for nothing. Some of the most enthusiastic Tomb Raider fans would probably say that this serves as a confirmation.
