At least Nintendo admits Prime 2 wasn't exactly the bomb, so maybe Corruption will indeed be better

Originally, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption was announced for a 2006 fourth quarter release. It wasn't the case. Then, it was said to launch in early 2007. Again, Retro Studios canceled the release data and kept working on the game. Recently however, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime talked to Newsweek and cleared out some of the facts, regarding current work on the third installment of the Prime trilogy and revealed a "probable" launch date:

This piece of interview was posted on 1UP: "Where is Metroid? Metroid is not going to ship by June. We've announced all of our games through the end of June. And the fact with Metroid is we want to make sure that that game is perfect," stated Fils-Aime. "Unfortunately, Metroid Prime 2 didn't live up to our expectations, it didn't live up to Retro's expectations ... From a sales standpoint. I think we were all happy with the product itself. Certainly it won quite a bit of critical acclaim, but the sell-through wasn't what we wanted it to be." Why do they have to be such perfectionists with this Wii Metroid series anyway? Remember the GameBoy version? (Metroid II: The Return of Samus). It kicked ass right from Samus' first two steps after landing the aircraft (which of course you couldn't see 'cause they couldn't make introduction/story movies back then in 1200 BC). So it's after June then. Mkay!

Retro Studios will launch the tenth game in the series with Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and the fifth title in the Metroid Prime sub-series. It's an FPS taking place shortly after the events of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, which wasn't exactly a knock off when released. Hopefully this one will, and should, if they're tweaking it so much lately.
