First it was due for 2006, then early 2007, next thing you know, we'll be seeing it in 2008, maybe...

If you were thinking to check if your memory served you right and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption wasn't due for early 2007, forget about it because there's nothing wrong with your memory. Nintendo's upcoming title in the series was supposed to be on its way to shop shelves soon, but Reggie Fils-Aime President of Nintendo America says otherwise:

"The focus on Prime 3 is to make that the stellar game for a first-person experience on the platform, he told MTV News. "What that means is we're going to make sure it's perfect when we launch it. I think this is one where your readers - the fans of Nintendo, the core gamer - need to recognize that when we release it, it will be perfect. The president of Nintendo America added: "And if that's a little later than folks would have liked, I'm hoping they're going to be happy."

Currently in development for the Wii platform, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is the ninth game release in the Metroid series, the fifth title in the Metroid Prime sub-series, and the third game in the Metroid Prime trilogy, taking place shortly after the events of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, being the next significant episode in the career of Samus Aran.

It's not the first time the game's launch date is being pushed forward. If I'm not mistaking, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption was originally set for launch in the fourth quarter of 2006, after which some restraints were encountered and Retro Studios had to delay its launch until early this year. It seems that history is repeating itself and we shouldn't be too surprised if we heard it's due for early 2008.

After all, developers have made it into a Wii title, even a GameBoy version of the series, Metroid II: Return of Samus was a pretty good game. So a little patience wouldn't hurt.
