Galaxy S proved to be one of the most popular smartphones in the world soon after launch, the Galaxy S II did the same, and it seems that the next device in the lineup might prove as successful.

Some leaked info on what might turn out to be the Galaxy S III device made it into the wild recently, and things are certainly looking encouraging.

However, nothing has been confirmed on the matter for the time being, although we have no doubt that Samsung is working on the successor of Galaxy S II, and we'll take the available info on the upcoming device with a grain of salt, especially since it was picked up from a forum board.

We should start by saying that the next Galaxy S device is expected to include a large, 4.65-inch touchscreen display, one that might deliver an SXGA 1280 x 1024 pixels resolution.

This is the first smartphone we know of to have been rumored with such a display, especially with no 720p handset available yet on the market.

At the same time, the next Samsung flagship phone is expected to arrive on the market with a quad-core application processor inside, with each core clocked in at 2.0GHz.

For the time being, this seems more like the product of an enthusiast's imagination than a viable hardware specification for a smartphone, but there is a strong possibility that handsets with four cores will arrive on shelves next year, as Nvidia already suggested.

The CPU will be accompanied by 1.5GB of RAM, and by 32GB of internal memory, though a microSD memory card slot might be included into the mix as well. Who knows, it might even offer support for 64GB cards, just as the ones SanDisk made available a few days ago.

A 10-megapixel photo snapper will be packed with the Galaxy S III smartphone, rumor has it, with 1080p video recording capabilities. There will also be NFC connectivity, and a 2250mAh battery to power the behemoth.

The upcoming smartphone is expected to run under Google's Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, and to have the Samsung TouchWiz UI on top. It should be unveiled at next year's MWC show, it seems.

All these specs on the Galaxy S III will go into the rumor drawer at the moment, but we'll keep an eye out for more believable details on Samsung's next flagship phone, so keep an eye on this space for additional info in the matter. (via)
