Hello and welcome to another edition of A Gamer's Week, the roundup of everything important that happened in the video game industry this week. We've seen quite a lot of interesting things happen in these past few days, with everything from piracy to leaks from inside sources and official announcements. Without further ado, here's this edition of A Gamer's Week.

Monday saw two big speculations, with the first one being the next project of Radical Entertainment, which will release Prototype this summer. It seems that they will be “exchanging” the free running New York-based open world game to a web slinging and free running New York-based open world game, replacing Alex Mercer with famous Marvel super hero Spider-Man. This was also the day when Sony's big announcement regarding inFamous and Uncharted 2 was ruined, as a Best Buy employee posted pictures of the cover of the upcoming title, showing that for every pre-order, customers would receive a voucher for the Uncharted 2 Multiplayer beta stage.

Tuesday brought a piracy alert, as the very anticipated X-Men Origins: Wolverine was cracked and uploaded to bittorrent sites on almost all platforms except the PC, a few days before its official release. Let's see Activision complain about PC piracy now. On a lighter note, the Pro Cycling Manager 2009 edition is coming together quite nicely, according to its producers, Cyanide, which have revealed that it will also include the famous Tour of Spain (La Vuelta) in order to please fans.

Wednesday saw me and my colleague, Andrei Dumitrescu, playing the Co-Op mode of Resident Evil 5. While I was controlling the big-muscled and heavy-hitting Chris Redfield, my colleague was coming to grasp with the lovely Sheva Alomar, which is athletic, agile and quite skilled at killing zombies in a war-torn African nation.

Sticking with zombies, Thursday saw a big announcement come from Valve, which revealed that its very successful shooter, Left 4 Dead, would be completely free to play for 24 hours, starting with 12:01 AM GMT Friday night, or morning if you prefer. This day also saw Electronic Arts' Sports label showcase the style of the Wii version of the highly anticipated Madden NFL 10 American football simulator. While the players do look pretty funny, the whole Madden experience is still there, meaning that fans will really love it.

Friday saw Electronic Arts reveal another piece of interesting information, in regard to its Need For Speed: Undercover title, which will receive another piece of Downloadable Content in the near future, in the form of the Boss Car Bundle. If you were tempted to race with your opponents' cars while playing the single player campaign, now they can all be yours, for a price, of course. The last day of the working week also saw some of the rules behind the creation of Achievements appear, shedding some light on a very vital piece of a video game for a lot of players.

This week my colleague also got a chance to play Demigod, and you can check out his review here. For all the latest news from the gaming industry, you can always visit the games section here at Softpedia.
