14 DAY TRIAL // Unbelievable...? Not one bit. Why do you think press releases and official reports repeatedly say "the most anticipated FPS of this generation of consoles," when referring to Halo 3? Because it is. Both Microsoft and Bungie were probably betting on reaching this milestone even earlier than present time.
As soon as the game's developer rolled out the Beta for everyone hooked to XBLA to try out, both companies' efforts were instantly rewarded. Everyone was talking about it! Having gotten a little taste of the Xbox 360 exclusive shooter, console owners worldwide rushed to pre-order their favorite game in the shortest time possible!
Well, if you're a fan (which I guess you are, since you've made it to the second paragraph) you're probably not moved at all by these numbers, knowing how you've rushed and pre-ordered your copy of Halo 3.
OK, now here's a couple of statements coming from video game stores officials:
"What we've experienced is nothing short of phenomenal," said Bob McKenzie, senior vice president of merchandising at GameStop Corp. "'Halo 3' has eclipsed many previous records and will prove to be one of the must-have items of 2007."
As for Jill Hamburger, vice president of movies and games at Best Buy...: "The excitement for 'Halo 3' is incredible. From our preorders online and the buzz we're hearing in our stores, we know this release is going to be one of the biggest entertainment events of the year. We're thrilled to be able to bring it to our customers."
Sony and Nintendo better face it - they don't have anything to compete with Halo 3 at this given time and since Microsoft has already lowered the Xbox 360's price, announcing HDMI and 65nm chips for upcoming Core and Premium SKUs, I'd say we're going to witness a twist of events this generation of gaming hardware. No actually, I'm sure!
Halo 3 launches on September 25th this year. There will be three editions of the game on store shelves:
