14 DAY TRIAL // ZTE's flagship smartphone won't be getting the highly-anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat update until the end of the month, as previously promised. The Chinese company has recently informed beta testers that the release of the update has been delayed since it doesn't meet its quality standards.
Just like many other handset makers, ZTE debuted a beta program for the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Axon 7. Unfortunately, there seem to be some issues that made ZTE postpone the release of the update to a later date.
Those who have been selected to participate in the beta will continue to receive beta builds meant to improve the software with new features, improvements, optimizations, and bug fixes.
In fact, the latest beta version pushed to Axon 7 users brings some optimizations to camera, file manager, contacts, browser, gallery, as well as video. Some translations have been streamlined as well, along with the performance and stability of the operating system.
The official changelog of this beta build contains a short statement that confirms Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Axon 7 has been delayed. Here is what ZTE has to say about the update:
“We are now in the beta test and sadly enough, the software does not meet our expectations and quality standards.” ZTE went on to say the company is very sorry about the delay, but vouches to release the Android 7.0 Nougat update in the first quarter.
Unfortunately, this statement moves the deadline to the end of March, so if you own an Axon 7, you'll have to wait a good few months until the update is pushed to your phone.
The good news is that in order to get the Android 7.0 Nougat update out as soon as possible, ZTE is doubling the number of beta testers starting this week.
All Axon 7 owners who want to participate in the beta program can register on Asus' support forum and hope they will be selected.
