The Mobile World Congress 2017 will most certainly be packed with press conferences and events held by all the major smartphone makers on the market. Considering the importance of the event, many will unveil their latest flagships, showing the world new designs and powerful specs.

ZTE is also preparing a special announcement during MWC 2017, set to start on February 27 and end on March 2 in Barcelona. ZTE has released a teaser announcing that the company will talk about its ZTE Axon 7, Blade V8 devices, and the “World’s first groundbreaking concept mobile phone,” according to Android Pure.

While we don’t really know what to make of this, ZTE’s excitement has us believe that maybe the company will be showcasing a phone with a design that goes along the lines of Xiaomi’s Mi Mix, a borderless/edge-less concept phone with a 91.3% screen-to-body ratio and no bezels at the top. Perhaps ZTE’s concept phone will go in another direction and incorporate innovative game-changing features for the whole industry, we’ll just have to patiently wait and see.

ZTE's crowd-sourced phone Hawkeye is in the works

Meanwhile, ZTE announced the Blade V8 smartphone earlier this month, a mid-ranger with some appealing specs, like a dual-camera setup on the back with 13MP and 2MP sensors, and a 13MP front camera for snapping selfies and conducting video calls.

Aside from this, the phone has 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, a 2,370mAh battery and a 5.2-inch display with full HD resolution. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor.

Another interesting project from ZTE is the crowd-sourced smartphone Hawkeye, featured on Kickstarter for the price of $199. The phone will come with eye-tracking technology and a case for sticking the device to walls and surfaces in a vertical position. Its specs include a 5.5-inch screen, SD625 SoC, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal memory. The phone will start shipping in September 2017.
