A few months back, we told you that a high-end ZTE flagship called the Nubia X8 surfaced online, revealing a completely bezeless design. But since then we haven’t seen anything else related to the smartphone. Until now, that is.

This week, the Nubia Weibo account posted a series of teaser images, including one picture that features a sketch of a bezeless smartphone with an X at the bottom (as seen at Gizmo China).

We also get to see a bunch of visuals showing the phone in real life, boasting an almost pure gold paint job.

But apart from the luxurious coloring, another aspect stands out: the phone does not seem to feature traditional volume buttons like most smartphones. Instead, it appears that the device takes advantage of touch-based side buttons. The power button should also be home to a fingerprint scanner.

Rumored specs of the ZTE Nubia X8

According to earlier leaks, we expect the Nubia X8 to feature a 5.5-inch to 6-inch capacitive touchscreen display with support for Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. We also know that the phone will pack 4GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.

ZTE will also throw in a microSD card slot for memory expansion. We’re still in the dark about the processor fueling the upcoming device, but judging by the overall specs, we have to assume it’s going to be a Snapdragon 810 or maybe a MediaTek X10.

The Nubia X8 should ship out with Android 5.0 Lollipop, but given that Android 6.0 Marshmallow is out and about, this is a little bit disappointing, especially since we won’t probably see the company roll out the update anytime soon.

One of the best features the Nubia X8 is expected to pack is a hefty 5,120 mAh battery, which should be enough to power a high-resolution display and a powerful processor inside. Oher specs include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and AGPS.

ZTE has scheduled a press event for October 15, which is just a few days from now, so soon enough we will know for sure what the Nubia X8 is all about. Hopefully, ZTE won’t price the phone too high, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
