There are quite a few flagship smartphones expected to be released in the next couple of months. HTC and Huawei will unveil their top tier smartphones in April, but other handset makers might reveal new products as well.

One of these “other” handset makers is ZTE, which hasn’t revealed any information regarding a flagship smartphone that might be introduced this year. The Chinese company did not launch a high-end device at Mobile World Congress like other major mobile phone vendors.

However, new information about ZTE’s upcoming flagship has just leaked online. According to GizmoChina, ZTE A2017 will be the company’s most powerful smartphone. In fact, the device scored so high on AnTuTu benchmark that we can say the A2017 will be among the most powerful phones available on the market in the first half of the year.

Apparently, ZTE A2017 performed very well on AnTuTu and managed to score no less than 140,086. The result is higher than Samsung Galaxy S7’s score, but also better than LG G5’s benchmark performance.

The only device that managed to beat the ZTE A2017 is the Xiaomi Mi 5, but that’s probably because the latter sports a full HD (1080p) display.

Impressive 21MP camera and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

When it comes to specs, ZTE A2017 does not seem to include anything unusual for a flagship smartphone. This means the device will come equipped with a 64-bit 2.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory.

There’s no mention of microSD card slot, but we do know that ZTE A2017 will boast a 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.

At the back, the A2017 will feature an impressive 21-megapixel photo snapper, while in the front the smartphone will include a no less impressive 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

The benchmark listing also confirms the smartphone will run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system, but we have no details on the battery powering the ZTE A2017.

Naturally, the flagship won’t be launched on the market as A2017, as ZTE will most likely use a more appropriate name. Stay tuned for more on this one.
