It looks like Chinese handset maker ZTE has another high-end smartphone in the pipeline, which goes by the codename A2017. In fact, judging by the phone’s specs sheet, this might be pure flagship handset.

First of all, ZTE A2017 is expected to boast a stunning 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that should support Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.

Another reason that makes us believe this is a flagship smartphone is the fact that ZTE A2017 is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2.1GHz.

The A2017 might be one of the few ZTE smartphones to ship with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box.

Also, the powerful Snapdragon processor is paired with an Adreno 530 graphics processing unit, 4GB of RAM and no less than 64GB of storage. Sadly, there’s no mention of microSD card slot for memory expansion, but that doesn’t mean the ZTE A2017 won’t come with one.

Impressive 21MP camera and NFC support

Another strong point of the smartphone is the 21-megapixel photo snapper on the back side, which features LED flash and 4K video recording. In the front, ZTE A2017 packs a no less impressive 8-megapixel camera for state-of-the-art selfies and video calls.

Although the listing at GFXBench does not mention anything about 4G LTE, we can safely assume the A2017 will offer this feature if ZTE plans to launch the smartphone outside China.

However, we do know that ZTE A2017 includes other connectivity options like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC (Near Field Communication), and GPS with AGPS support.

No word on price and availability yet, but since a prototype unit has already been benchmarked we expect the ZTE A2017 to show up at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, very soon. Keep in mind that the A2017 will be launched on the market under a different name.
