Good news for ZTE Axon 7 owners, as the Chinese company has just announced it has started the rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat for its flagship smartphone.

The update was initially delayed due to ZTE's inability to provide users with a smooth Nougat experience: “We are now in the beta test and sadly enough, the software does not meet our expectations and quality standards.”

Although ZTE mentioned the update would still be released in Q1 2017, we did not expect to have it available until later this month or the next.

Another important thing worth mentioning is the fact that the update brings Daydream support as well. Thanks to its powerful audio and visual capabilities, the Axon 7 should now be capable to offer users an immersive VR experience at an affordable price.

Delivering Android Nougat for the Axon 7 provides consumers with an enhanced experience and greater value when purchasing this flagship device. Also, with Daydream certification, consumers are now able to have an immersive VR experience at a price they can afford when paired with the Daydream View headset,” said Lixin Cheng, chairman and CEO of ZTE USA.

Among the new major features included in the Android 7.0 Nougat update, ZTE highlights the ability to personalize the Axon 7 like never before.

In addition, users will now be able to run two apps side by side, save battery power while on the go, and express themselves through added emojis.

On a side note, the ZTE Axon 7 is the cheapest Daydream-ready smartphone available for purchase in the United States. The phone costs just $400 and packs stellar features like Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal memory.

Also, the Axon 7 boasts a stunning 5.5-inch AMOLED display with Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera with dual Image Stabilization (OIS and EIS), sapphire crystal lens, and enhanced dual-LED flash.
