14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has just released a fresh new update for the Skype application, but it's only available on the iOS platform. The update brings a couple of new features meant to introduce users to the holiday spirit.
The most important new feature if you plan on getting into the holiday spirit is definitely the option to share a personalized holiday video message with your loved ones. That way you can spread a little holiday extra cheer.
In order to share that holiday video message you must tap on the snowflake button next to the Skype logo to get started. Then, everything is pretty straightforward, so you shouldn't have any issues.
However, if you really aren't into the holiday season cheering, the most important improvement could be the fact that notifications have now been removed from the Notification Center when the Skype application is launched. That way, the application will be much more pleasant to the eye and less cluttered.
One other change that's been implemented in the latest update is the fact that you will now be able to rejoin group calls much more easily. The new feature comes in handy to those who happen to accidentally close the app during a group call and are unable to join.
These are all the changes included in the newest Skype for iOS update, but as developers state, keep sending feedback by opening the app and tapping the Skype Community link in My info. The Skype team promises to listen to all the suggestions received from users.
If you haven't yet used Skype on your iOS device, you can give it a try since it comes for free. The new version is fully compatible with all iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices running iOS 8.0 or later.
Keep in mind, though, that if you are using iOS 7 or earlier, you can download the last compatible version by tapping install/update and following the prompt to download. Also, the Apple Watch features require iOS 8.2 and, of course, an Apple Watch.
