14 DAY TRIAL // One of the best flagship smartphones available on the market, Xiaomi Mi 5, is very popular outside China as well. Many Android fans preferred the Chinese company’s high-end device over Samsung’s Galaxy S7 edge or LG’s G5.
Although Xiaomi owes its huge revenue to the Chinese market, in order to achieve higher profitability, the company has to tackle every new smartphone launched that has the potential to become very popular in the Mainland.
The same goes for the recently announced iPhone SE, which is likely to sell like crazy in China even though it hasn’t been priced aggressively at all.
An unannounced Xiaomi smartphone with 4.3-inch HD (720p) capacitive touchscreen display has been recently spotted in China, GizChina reports.
The device is rumored to pack a powerful 1.8GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor inside, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory.
It will launch in June for just $275
The mysterious handset seems like a smaller version of a cheaper Xiaomi Mi 5 and is meant to compete with Apple’s iPhone SE, which comes with a 4-inch display and costs $400 (16GB model) and $500 (64GB model), respectively.
Xiaomi’s 4.3-inch smartphone will also come with a 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash, and video recording, but no OIS (optical image stabilization), as well as a fingerprint scanner positioned under the Home button.
Rumor has it that Xiaomi will launch this miniaturized Mi 5 sometime in June for just $275 outright. Even though it will be released in China, customers will be able to order one via major Chinese retailers willing to ship internationally.
Naturally, the handset will ship with MIUI 7 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, so owners won’t need to wait for an update unless it’s Android N.
