Xiaomi is said to be working on an exciting new smartphone for the global market, the successor to last year’s Redmi Pro. The new phone will bring some improvements and retain some features found on its predecessor.

Recent reports say that the Redmi Pro 2 will come at the end of this month, after its specs leaked back in January this year. The phone is expected to come with a Snapdragon 66x SoC and draw power from a very impressive 4,500mAh battery, a notable upgrade from its predecessor’s 4,050mAh battery.

The display on the new phone is said to be 5.5 inches with full HD (1080p) resolution and a 12MP Sony IMX362 main camera and Dual Pixel autofocus.

Redmi Pro 2 could be offered in two variants

Rumors say that Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 might arrive in two color variants, one that packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage and another with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of memory. Prices are said to reach $230 for the lower-end model and $260 for the variant with more internal storage and RAM capacity.

There’s no word on software on the new smartphone, but we presume that it might run MIUI 8.0, an Android 7.0 Nougat-based user interface. It remains to be seen if Redmi Pro 2 will be made available in other markets as well.

Xiaomi Redmi Pro was announced last year and it packed a 13MP dual-camera setup on the back and a selfie shooter of 5MP. The phone was offered in three variants, the lower-end model had 3GB or RAM and 32GB of internal storage, while the higher-end variant had 4GB of RAM and 128GB of memory.

The phone’s display reached 5.5 inches with FULL HD resolution, while the device had USB Type-C port and dual SIM support. It runs MediaTek Helio X25 64-bit deca-core processor on the premium model.
