We reported to you a few days ago that Xiaomi planned to unveil its next mid-range smartphone, the Redmi 3, on January 12. It looks like the Chinese company now wants to offer fans something to be excited about, so it has revealed some of the phone's specs.

Although rumors about Xiaomi's Redmi 3 date from several weeks ago, it's the first time that we get confirmation of some of the specs included in the mid-range smartphone.

The most interesting might be the fact that Xiaomi Redmi 3 will be powered by a massive 4,100 mAh battery, which should provide many days of continuous usage.

Despite the large battery inside the smartphone, Xiaomi has announced that the Redmi 3 won't be too thick due to the high energy density technology included in the 4,100 mAh battery.

Another major feature that's been confirmed by the Chinese company is the 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that the handset will sport.

Even though the resolution is not mentioned, previous rumors claimed the smartphone's screen should support HD (720p) resolution.

All-metal design, 13MP camera

Design-wise, Xiaomi states that the Redmi 3 will feature an all-metal body with a stylish plaid design on the back side. The information is confirmed by the teaser that's been published today on Weibo, the Chinese version of Facebook.

In the same piece of news, the Redmi 3 is expected to come equipped with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

There's a high chance that the smartphone will include microSD card slot for memory expansion as well, though the information hasn't been confirmed yet.

Xiaomi Redmi 3 is rumored to pack a 13-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash, and video recording, as well as a secondary 5-megapixel camera on the front for selfies and video calls.

It's also rumored to ship with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, but we can always hope for Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
