If you're waiting for Xiaomi to introduce its flagship smartphone, the Mi5, at CES 2016 trade fair, then you will be disappointed since the Chinese company has no intention of doing that.

The company's VP Liwan Jian has recently confirmed on Weibo, the Chinese version of Facebook, that Xiaomi Mi5 will be available for purchase after the Spring Festival. Basically, this means that the Mi5 could be launched on the market any day after February 8.

Along with the release timeframe, Xiaomi's official has also announced that the Mi5 will definitely pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor inside.

“Xiaomi Mi5 ready with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, production now ramping up production. In order to have enough stock for sales, it will be released after Sprint Festival,” says Liwan Jiang.

This is despite the fact that it was believed the Xiaomi Mi5 would be world's first announced smartphone powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor.

Unfortunately for Xiaomi, that did not happen, and that title now belongs to LeTV's Max Pro phablet that we reported on yesterday.

The good news is the Mi5 will at least be announced ahead of Samsung's Galaxy S7, which is expected to go official on February 20.

3,600 mAh battery with quick charging technology

Specs-wise, Xiaomi Mi5 is rumored to pack 4GB RAM and either 16GB or 64GB of internal memory, There's no mention of microSD card slot for memory expansion yet.

According to the rumor mill, the Mi5 should sport a 5.2-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.

Xiaomi Mi5 is also expected to boast an impressive 21-megapixel rear-facing camera with Sony sensor, as well as a no less impressive 13-megapixel camera on the front.

The flagship smartphone will be powered by a 3,600 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology and should feature a fingerprint scanner.
