As expected, Xiaomi has taken the wraps off its new flagship smartphone, the Mi5. Despite the fact that the latest hearsay suggested the Mi5 could pack Quad HD display, Xiaomi has decided to stick with full HD (1080p) screens.

But first things first. Xiaomi announced that M5 would be launched in three versions: standard, high and exclusive. The main difference between the three is the choice of materials, but some specs have been changed as well.

The standard Xiaomi Mi5 will cost just $305. This particular version comes equipped with a 1.8GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, an Adreno 530 graphics processing unit, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

Next in line, the high version of Mi5 has been priced at $350. It includes a 2.15GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 CPU, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory.

Last but not least, Xiaomi Mi5 exclusive version is powered by the same 2.15GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor but packs 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It should cost $415 outright.

MicroSD card feature not included

Keep in mind that none of the Mi5 variants mentioned includes microSD card slot for memory expansion, as Xiaomi has decided to ditch this feature in favor of UFS 2.0 internal memory.

Design-wise, the standard and high versions feature a mix of metal and glass, whereas the exclusive model takes advantage of ceramic and glass materials.

All three Xiaomi Mi5 models sport 5.15-inch capacitive touchscreen displays that support full HD (1080p) resolution. They also have fingerprint scanner under the Home button.

At the back, the Mi5 boasts an impressive 16-megapixel photo snapper with 4-axis OIS (optical images stabilization), Sony IMX298 sensor and 4K video recording. There's also a 4-megapixel snapper in the front with 2.0-micron sensor.

The Mi5 is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery and includes a wide range of connectivity options, including LTE, Wi-Fi, USB Type-C port, NFC (Near Field Communication) and GPS with AGPS.

Naturally, the smartphone will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box and the latest version of MIUI.
