Xiaomi has finally unveiled its flagship smartphone, the Mi5 after more than a year of waiting. But that's not the only device the Chinese company introduced earlier today at MWC 2016.

The affordable Mi 4s has been announced for the Chinese market, but we suspect Xiaomi will make this one available in other countries as well.

The new affordable smartphone is a slightly improved version of the popular Mi 4 flagship. Xiaomi also confirmed that the Mi 4s would be available in China for just 1,699 yuan, which is about $260 outright.

That's an incredible price for a smartphone that comes with a hexa-core processor and high amount of RAM inside. But let's start with the software side.

According to Xiaomi, the Mi 4s will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and its new MIUI 7 user interface on top of it.

Is this the flagship that should have been launched last year?

Specs-wise, Xiaomi Mi 4s comes equipped with a 1.8GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, an Adreno 418 graphics processing unit, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage that can be expanded via microSD card slot.

The smartphone sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

At the back, the Mi 4s packs a 13-megapixel photo snapper with phase detection autofocus, dual-tone LED flash and video recording, whereas at the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel selfie camera.

Xiaomi Mi 4s comes with a fingerprint scanner on the back, as well as USB Type-C port and an infrared sensor. The smartphone is powered by a 3,260 mAh battery with fast charging and offers both 4G LTE and Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/N/ ac dual-band wireless network with MU-MIMO.

It will be available on the market in March and customers will be able to choose between black, gold, pink and white versions.
