14 DAY TRIAL // Initially slated for a Q4 2019 release, X4's next expansion, Split Vendetta was delayed until Q1 2020. Today, developer EGOSOFT announced X4: Split Vendetta expansion will go live on March 31. Alongside the new expansion, the developer revealed plans to release a free update that will bring lots of improvements and optimizations.
So, the Split Vendetta expansion will be released on Steam and GOG on the same day, and the same goes for Foundations 3.0 update, which will be available for free. Fans of the space saga can already pre-order the expansion via Steam for just $15 / €15 / £13, or add it to their wish lists.
The next chapter in the X4: Foundations story, Split Vendetta is meant to greatly increase the size of the universe and adds two new Split family clans along with their economy, new ships, weapons, and station modules.
Players should expect exciting new missions and adventures, new game-starts that will allow an even more varied experience, as well as the option to trade with the Split families or fight against them.
According to EGOSOFT, X4: Split Vendetta is the first of two expansions that will be automatically available to owners of the X4: Foundations Collector's Edition.
On the other hand, the free Foundation 3.0 update will add diplomatic missions and a brand-new storyline “A lever to move the world.” In addition to a new unlockable game start and three new, stand-alone tutorial scenarios to welcome new pilots to the X universe, X4: Foundations players will also benefit from numerous new gameplay elements with the 3.0 Update, including French voice recordings.
Apart from a new storyline, the update includes more than 400 individual entries covering new features, weapons, sectors, improved gameplay elements, an upgraded user interface experience, and many fixes. New ships like Paranid Ares heavy fighter, Xenon T scout, Teladi Cormorant transporter, as well as improvement to menus and more control over drones and turrets have been added too.
