14 DAY TRIAL // EGOSOFT's X4: Foundations was a nice surprise when it launched one year ago, but it didn't take long for players to find that the game is quite flawed. After numerous patches, Foundations is quite playable, but there are still a lot of issues with the game.
Expected to launch in Q4 2019, the first expansion – X4: Split Vendetta has been delayed, the developer announced recently. The same goes for the associated major update 3.0 for X4: Foundations, which will now be released along with the expansion in the first quarter of 2020.
The reason for this delay is not hard to guess: EGOSOFT needs more time to optimize the update and expansion, as well as implement all the gameplay features they had in mind.
“We’re very sorry about this delay and would particularly like to apologize to all owners of the X4: Foundations Collector's Edition, which includes the two future expansions. During the development of the X4: Split Vendetta expansion and the 3.0 update, a number of things have emerged that we really want to see implemented, optimized and fixed in time for the next big step forward for X4: Foundations in order to meet our own expectations as well as yours. We simply need a bit more time to do so,” said Bernd Lehahn, founder and CEO of EGOSOFT.
X4: Split Vendetta greatly increases the size of the universe and introduces two new Split family clans along with their economy, new ships, weapons, and station modules. The expansion brings new missions and adventures to the game, which will allow those who start a new game to have an even more varied experience.
In the same piece of news, the developers released the highly-anticipated update 2.60 this week, which is focusing on the in-game economy. In addition to many smaller fixes and improvements, the 2.60 update also optimizes navigation in the game, both for the player guidance system and for AI ships.
Furthermore, the station overview and the station menu have been updated, and Russian voice recordings have been integrated into the game. You can find the full list of changes in the EGOSOFT forum.
