14 DAY TRIAL // As we told you only a few hours ago, Microsoft was internally testing Windows 10 build 14388, and it turns out that everything went smoothly because this new build is now available for download for PCs and mobile devices enrolled in the fast ring of the Windows Insider program.
Just like its predecessors, Windows 10 build 14388 is all about bug fixes, so there are no new features this time because we’re getting closer to the moment when Microsoft finally pushes the release button and makes the Anniversary Update available for retail users too - this is due to happen on August 2, but insiders will get the final build first.
As far as PCs are concerned, this new release comes with updates for the Windows Store and fixes for Narrator and TPM driver crashes causing BSODs and rebooting. Mobile devices are getting an update for the Windows Store as well, but also fixes for keyboards not showing up in Microsoft Edge.
Same known issues as before
The same known issues from the previous build exist in 14388 as well, so users of non-en-US versions of Windows 10 might get error code 0x80004005 when enabling Developer Mode on the “For Developers” Settings screen. Microsoft says that there is a workaround for this until a full fix is provided, and you can find it in the box after the jump, where you can also read the full changelog for this build.
At first glance, Windows 10 build 14388 is one of the fastest and most stable so far, and it’s very clear that we’re getting closer to the launch of the Anniversary Update. This new update is taking shape quite nicely, and every new build comes to correct even the smallest issues that insiders come across when using the operating system.
New builds will certainly land as well in the coming days and weeks, as Microsoft continues the hard work to get the Anniversary Update ready in time for the August launch.
