Microsoft has released Windows 10 build 14385 for PC and mobile devices enrolled in the fast ring of the Windows Insider program, and just like expected, the focus here is on fixing bugs and improving performance before retail users get the Anniversary Update on August 2.

There’s absolutely no new feature in this build, and this kind of makes sense since we’re less than a month away from the public launch of the Anniversary Update, but it does bring some pretty important bug fixes and improvements that significantly refine the OS.

PC

The PC version of Windows 10 build 14385 comes with a fix for the annoying notification telling you that Windows will expire on July 15. Additionally, it includes improved battery life for Surface devices, as well as fixes for BSODs experienced with the Mobile Hotspot feature.

Microsoft says that Spotify should no longer crash while playing music, and Edge should now come with refined performance, as the browser got its own share of patches too.

“We fixed an issue resulting in LastPass and AdBlock extensions for Microsoft Edge not showing the expected context menu items or status information in subsequently opened Edge windows. We also fixed an issue where the current tab in Edge might hang after exiting Web Notes,” Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, said.

In terms of known bugs, the PC build comes with just two of them, one affecting Windows Server 2016 Tech Preview 5 VMs with Secure Boot enabled, and another one impacting PCs with a non-EN-US language. You can read more about them in the box after the jump.

Mobile

Windows 10 Mobile build 14385 fixes the known issues from the previous build, so you can now open PDFs in Edge and use touch to browse them and set the SIM name on a dual-SIM phone properly. Battery life issues on older devices should no longer be there.

There are some known issues here too, including Voice Recording not showing up as an option for Call Recording and the keyboard not popping out every time for InPrivate mode in Microsoft Edge.
