PLEASE NOTE: Windows 10 cumulative update KB4103721 is believed to be causing several issues on devices that install it. We're getting reports of bricked PCs, but Microsoft is yet to acknowlege any issues. Original story below.

Windows 10 April 2018 Update is getting its first cumulative update today, and unsurprisingly, it comes packed with several goodies for users who already installed it manually.

The first April 2018 Update cumulative update is KB4103721 and it bumps the OS build number to 17134.48 bringing both security and non-security improvements to devices.

And while it goes without saying that security fixes are particularly important because they address vulnerabilities in Microsoft’s operating system and other components, many users are looking for the bugs that this update solves in the April 2018 Update.

Since April 30 when Microsoft started allowing users to manually upgrade their devices to Windows 10 version 1803, lots of people did that only to discover various problems, including freezes, crashes, broken features, and other performance issues that substantially impacted the experience with the new OS.

What’s new in cumulative update KB4103721?

First and foremost, it’s worth noting that this cumulative update doesn’t include as many fixes as you expected, but all of them are obviously helpful anyway.

For example, Microsoft says it addressed an issue causing certain VPN apps from working on Windows 10 April 2018 Update.

“Addresses an issue that prevents certain VPN apps from working on builds of Windows 10, version 1803. These apps were developed using an SDK version that precedes Windows 10, version 1803, and use the public RasSetEntryProperties API,” the firm says in the changelog, which you can read in full below.

Additionally, this update fixes a bug causing user scripts to stop working, plus an issue that leads to errors when trying to connect to a Remote Desktop server.

There are no known issues in this update, which is always good news, but it remains to be seen how smoothly the cumulative update installs on upgraded systems. There are no reports of failed installs just yet.
