Last weekend, Gwen Stefani performed at the MasterCard Priceless Surprises concert in New York City and debuted a new song, which she hinted was about her divorce from Gavin Rossdale after 13 years of marriage.

She said the song was “really special” to her, which was the closest thing to a confirmation in this sense.

The track, which she said was going to be her next single, was called “Used to Love You” and was accompanied by footage of Gwen emoting for the camera. As it turns out, that footage hadn’t been shot specifically for the concert: it was the official music video.

Some hours ago, the “Used to Love You” video got an official release, and you can see it in full and in HD below. It’s nothing but close-ups of Gwen’s face as she’s going through a range of emotions, from sadness to heartbreak, disdain and finally a sense of relief.

She’s not much of an actress, but the combination of the lyrics and the intimate style of the video is perfect to send the message that Gwen is back to making music that speaks to the heart, because it’s inspired from personal experiences.

And one can only imagine that ending any marriage, let alone one that lasted for 13 years, is a very painful experience.

So here’s Gwen’s artistic take on it, with the “Used to Love You” music video.
