Motorola unveiled the Moto Z and Moto Z Force last month, and the company announced that the two smartphones would first be made available through Verizon whereas the unlocked versions would arrive later. Now it seems that Motorola and Verizon have sent out invites for an event scheduled to take place on July 14 in New York City.

Motorola and Verizon will finally release the Moto Z and Moto Z Force Droid Edition to the market on July 14, according to Android Central. Event invites have been sent out, and the Moto Mods will also be available for purchase, aside from the Moto Z Droid Editions. Information about pricing and availability hasn’t been revealed, but the two companies should make an announcement during the event.

The Moto Z line and Moto Mods represent Motorola’s first attempt at a modular smartphone since the accessories provide the two handsets with additional functionality, including a projector, sound enhancement, and enhanced battery.

Prices for Moto Mods at Verizon leaked a few weeks ago

However, just a few weeks ago, Verizon’s prices for the MotoMods leaked, and they were quite higher than expected. The Insta-Share Projector cost $299 while the TUMI Power Pack would be sold for $89, and the TUMI Wireless Charging Power Pack for $99. Kate Spade Style Shells had a price of $80. It’s unclear if Verizon will keep these prices or make adjustments.

Motorola stated that the Moto Z Droid Edition was the world’s thinnest premium smartphone. It’s just 5.2 millimeters thick and comes with a full metal body, a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display, Snapdragon 820 SoC, 2.2GHz quad-core CPU, and 4GB of RAM. It also runs Adreno 530 graphics processing unit and last autofocus on its 13MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture. Internal storage reaches 32 or 64GB.

The Moto Z Force has a 3,500mAh battery, compared to the 2,600mAh battery on the Moto Z. This is also the reason the Moto Z Force Droid Edition is thicker at 7mm. It also comes with a 21MP rear camera.
