The development team at The Creative Assembly might be busy working on its first fantasy-driven strategy title, but it has also found time to launch a new downloadable content pack for Total War: Attila, likely the last, and to deliver a new update for the experience, designed to improve the overall gameplay experience.

According to the official site, all players should be able to buy and download the Slavic Nations pack, which will introduce three new factions, each with its own characteristics and strategies, and all owners of the title will be able to now also play as Garamantia.

This North African kingdom, which has both fought and traded with the Romans, can strike out on its own to take new territory and find new factions to interact with.

The Garamantians are immune from attrition in the desert, and their troops gain a bonus when fighting in this familiar territory and they also gain a bonus to sanitation, although gamers who choose them will have to make sure that they keep an eye out on the development of religion in their lands.

The extensive update that's being offered for Total War: Attila fixes a wide array of issues that the community has been flagging and tweaks units to make sure that the tactical combat is as balanced as possible.

There are also changes for the two single-player driven DLC packs, Age of Charlemagne and The Last Roman, with a full list of all the modifications made by The Creative Assembly available to all those who click on the button at the end of this article.

Total War: Warhammer becomes the main focus for the studio

Total War: Attila was generally well received by the fan community, mainly because it delivered a realistic take on the final days of the Roman Empire and the devastation that was associated with it.

The next game created by The Creative Assembly represents a new direction for the studio because it uses the fantasy universe created by Games Workshop.

Players will be able to choose between the Empire, the Vampire Counts, the Greenskins and the Dwarves as they seek to expand their faction and to find a way to deal with the threat of Chaos and protect the Old World.

The game is designed with some unique strategic map mechanics, including limits on the provinces that can be occupied and many minor factions to conquer or deal with via diplomacy.

In combat gamers will be able to use magic to control areas of the battlefield and The Creative Assembly is also introducing flying units, powerful heroes and unique unit abilities.

Total War: Warhammer is arriving only on the PC on April 28, and gamers who place a pre-order for the strategy experience will get access to extra content that allows them to play as the Chaos warrior faction.

The Creative Assembly has said that it also has a historical game in development, but there are no plans to offer details about the setting or the new mechanics anytime soon.
