14 DAY TRIAL // As expected, the third installment in the Torchlight saga is finally here. Well, not if you own a Nintendo Switch, as that specific version of the game will be coming in about a week from now. If PC, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One is your main gaming platform, you'll be pleased to know that Torchlight III is now available for purchase for $40 / €40.
Developed by Echtra Games, Torchlight III promises to bring back some of the signature mechanics that defined the series, including hack'n'slash combat and the pet system. At the same time, the game supposedly offers an exciting new storyline and features that have been specially designed for the new generation of console and PC players.
Torchlight III includes both online 4-player cooperative multiplayer and offline single-player. Also, it introduces new features, such as three epic acts, unique Relic subclasses, fully customizable forts, and a challenging end-game experience in “Fazeer Shah's Dun-Djinn.” On top of that, developer Echtra Games added a multi-tiered Contracts progression system that lets players earn Fame and unlock elite items, along with a plethora of quests and boss fights.
Newcomers to the series might want to know that Torchlight III features four hero classes with unique abilities and strengths: Dusk Mage, Forged, Railmaster, and Sharpshooter. Also, here are the five Relics available for players to choose from Bane, Blood Drinker, Coldheart, Electrode, and Flaming Destroyer.
If you plan on picking this one up via Steam or any other store, you'll be happy to know that you'll receive an exclusive Fairy pet: Violet Glittersprite (Steam), Verdant Glittersprite (Xbox One), Azure Glittersprite (PlayStation 4), and Ashen Glittersprite (Nintendo Switch).
As mentioned earlier, Torchlight III is not yet available on the Switch, but developer Echtra Games confirmed the game will land on Nintendo's most recent console on October 22.
