14 DAY TRIAL // The folks at Echtra Games, the studio behind Torchlight III, have just revealed that their game will finally exit Steam Early Access on October 13. More importantly, Torchlight III will be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on the same day, while a Nintendo Switch version will arrive later this year for $40 / €40.
According to developers, the game will feature the franchise's signature mechanics such as hack-and-slash combat and a charming world. Also, Torchlight III offers 4-player cooperative multiplayer and offline single-player, as well as the traditional pet system.
However, Echtra Games introduced a handful of gameplay mechanics that are new to the series. For example, there are now three epic arts, unique Relic subclasses, fully customizable forts, and a challenging end-game experience “Fazeer Shah's Dun-Djinn.”
“The full release of Torchlight III wouldn’t have been possible without all of the incredible work from the entire Echtra team and our excellent community of Early Access players. We’ve put our heart into this new adventure and it has been awesome getting so much support from players while the game has been in live development. With the significant changes we’ve made throughout Torchlight III’s journey in Early Access, we have done our best to meaningfully integrate players’ feedback as much as possible into the game as we march toward launch,” said Max Schaefer, CEO of Echtra Games and co-founder of the Torchlight franchise.
Torchlight III takes place a century after the events in the previous title in the series. Although the heroes brought peace to the world of Novastraia, the Ember Empire is once again on the brink of collapse, as it's under threat of invasion by the armies of another kingdom.
In Torchlight III, players can choose between four classes with unique abilities and strengths: Dusk Mage, Forged, Railmaster, and Sharpshooter. Also, the game features five powerful relics: Bane, Blood Drinker, Coldheart, Electrode, and Flaming Destroyer.
