Redmond finally confirms pricing for the new accessory

Continuum is one of the key features of the new Lumia flagship lineup, but although Microsoft offered a lengthy demo of this innovation at its hardware event on October 6, the company hasn't actually mentioned one of the most important aspects: the price of this little thing that allows a phone to become a PC.

The Continuum adapter, officially known as the Display Dock, will be available for $99, the company has confirmed in a statement, but pricing could vary depending on the market.

In the United States, however, this is how much you'll have to pay for the adapter, so in case you purchase the new Lumia and want this too, prepare another $100 over the price of the phone.

The Continuum adapter comes with 3 USB ports that allow you to connect various peripherals, such as mice and keyboards, but also a DisplayPort and an HDMI port, both of which let you simply plug in a TV, a monitor, or a projector and start working in a second.

No additional tweaking is required, as everything is plug and play, so you just connect your phones and your peripherals, and you're good to go.

The bad news

There's one major thing that you should keep in mind when planning to get the new Display Dock: it doesn't work with your old Windows Phone device, so you have to purchase the new Lumias too if you want to use Continuum.

This is actually one of the main drawbacks because, even if you own flagships such as the Lumia 930 or Lumia 1520, you still can't use Continuum, which is a bummer, given the fact that both have been considered to be Redmond's high-end phones for a while now.

The Lumia 950 XL, however, is probably your best option if you want to have Continuum, so in case you're wondering, pricing for this new model starts at $649.
