Microsoft Officially Launches Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL

Microsoft has just announced its latest high-end phones, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, both of which will come with Windows 10 Mobile.

Most of the specifications are already known, so the Lumia 950 comes with a 5.2-inch screen while the XL features a 5.7-inch display. Both sport an OLED screen and come with Glance Screen technology, which was previously available on some Windows Phone devices, such as the Lumia 1520.

It wasn't available on the Lumia 930 high-end model, but Microsoft seems to fix this with Windows 10 Mobile by making its flagship feature available on as many devices as possible.

The devices have a 20MP camera on the back with a triple LED flash. “When you take a picture you don't look like a ghost, you look like a human,” Panos Panay, head of the Device unit at Microsoft explained. OIS is also available, which makes it a “gorgeous camera,” as Panay explained.

Physical buttons for both

The two Lumias still come with a physical button for the camera, allowing you to start 4K video recording in a second. “I know it's a small feature, but it's extremely powerful,” Panay explained.

32 GB of storage space is offered and you can expand it with microSD card support. Up to 256 GB additional storage can be added, Panay revealed.

There are two antennas, “some of the best on the planet because e when you hold it you will get the best connection you can possibly have,” Panay stated.

USB-C will be offered on both models, and in less than 30 minutes you get a 50 percent charge. That's great, everyone in the room applauds. Finally, quick charge coming to Lumias.

“We want to put Windows in your pocket,” Panay said. “Wake up,” he told developers, trying to explain the advantages of coding for Windows.

Both models will hit the shelves in November, with pricing to start at $549 for the 950 and $649 for the XL.
