The update was previously confirmed for Q4 2016

Motorola hasn't yet brought Android 7.0 Nougat to any of its smartphones. The US-based company didn't even launch a Nougat smartphone, but that's likely to change if the recently leaked Motorola DROID Turbo 3 makes its debut.

The good news is some Motorola fans can already take advantage of the Android Nougat features, but only if they own the Moto Z or the Moto Z Force. Another condition would be to own Verizon's version.

Multiple reports coming from Moto Z and Moto Z Force users claim Motorola has already pulled the plug on the Android 7.0 Nougat rollout for these two devices. We believe this is a staged deployment, so there's a high chance that only a limited number of users might have received the update.

As mentioned earlier, the update is only available for the Moto Z and Moto Z Force for Verizon. If you're looking for an official confirmation, you won't find any, as Verizon hasn't yet updated the phones' support pages.

According to some of those who received the software update with firmware version NCL26.86-11, this is a fairly sizable update, which will take around 20 minutes to install.

But the wait is well worth it since Android 7.0 Nougat brings a lot of cool stuff to the Moto Z and Moto Z Force, including the split-screen mode, Daydream VR support, along with app quick switching functionality.

It's probably going to take Motorola a few days to push the update to more users, but it's great that the company has started the rollout earlier than expected. Motorola originally announced that it would provide the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Moto Z sometime in Q4.

Even though the update is only available for the Verizon-branded version of the Moto Z, we doubt the unlocked variant won't receive Nougat in the next couple of weeks as well.
