The GPD Pocket is without a doubt one of the most innovative products we’ve seen in a long time, as it runs both Windows 10 and Ubuntu on hardware that you wouldn’t normally expect to fit in a 7-inch case.

The pocket-size device experienced a huge success on IndieGogo where it received more than $2 million in record time, even though the manufacturer originally asked for $200,000. The huge demand for the GPD Pocket allowed the parent company to accelerate development of the device, so today we get to watch a video that shows the tiny PC running Windows 10.

This is just a prototype version and a lot could change in the meantime, but the Pocket already looks like the kind of product that many of us would like to have for some gaming or browsing the web on the go.

In terms of hardware, there’s a good chance you’ll be impressed, as it features an Intel x7-Z8750 with 4-core 4-thread design and 4GB LPDDR 3 RAM, as well as 128GB of storage. The 7-inch display has a resolution of 1920x1200 pixels and features what the manufacturer calls Retina display, bringing it close in terms of quality to the Apple MacBook Air.

The keyboard is the only drawback

There’s also a tiny trackpad that you can see in action in the video, as well as a battery that’s supposed to provide approximately 12 hours of life per charge.

The keyboard is probably the part that could make the device a bit more difficult to use, or at least to get used to, especially because it features small keys that are all crammed in the 7-inch case. And what’s more, the Fn key is placed on the keyboard before the left Ctrl, which for many users is terrible, but it’s probably just a matter of time until everyone gets used to it.

Watch the device in action in the video below and head over to IndieGogo if you want to buy one for $399 (retail price will be $599).
