Swiss company TAG Heuer announced last week that a new smartwatch would be unveiled on March 14. Although the wearable device hasn't been introduced yet, information about it emerged via TAG Heuer's website.

As per Droid-life's report, the new smartwatch to be revealed by the Swiss company later today will be called TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45. The device will run Android Wear 2.0 and will be available for purchase in the United States for at least $1,650.

As the name suggests, TAG Heuer's new smartwatch will feature a modular design. Basically, users will be able to switch between a Connected (smartwatch) module and a mechanical one, which will also provide the device with the “Swiss Made” certification.

The Connected Modular 45 will allow users to replace the lugs, straps, and buckles, as TAG Heuer promises to provide them with a wide range of choices. Customers looking for a luxury smartwatch will be able to buy ceramic straps and titanium bracelets to go with the smartwatch.

Water resistance and Android Pay support

Unfortunately, not many details concerning the smartwatch's insides are available at the moment, but we do know the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 will feature an Intel-based chipset.

Also, the smartwatch is expected to pack 4GB internal memory and a stunning AMOLED display. The Connected Modular 45 will feature water resistance and a decent battery that should provide more than 24 hours of usage.

When it comes to connectivity, TAG Heuer has decided to include Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC (Near Field Communication) and Android Pay support. These are all the details that emerged online earlier today, but it's not long before we'll be able to learn everything there is to know about the smartwatch.

It's worth mentioning that TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 will be available in Europe as well, not just in the United States.
