It seems that the development team at DICE has big plans for the January update that's coming for Star Wars Battlefront and plans to introduce a range of widely requested features, including daily challenges and private matches while also delivering a new combat area and more options for the heroes featured in the title.

The information comes from an official Electronic Arts Brazil video that has since then been taken down but not before a Reddit user managed to see all it had to offer and translate all the information linked to the short-term future of the multiplayer shooter.

Gamers will be able to get access to a new map set on Tatooine, and both Luke and Leia get new outfits based on the original trilogy of movies, though their actual powers remain unchanged.

The major new features that are being added to Star Wars Battlefront include a new set of daily challenges, although the associated rewards have not yet been mentioned, and special community events that will challenge the player base to achieve certain objectives.

Gamers will also be able to engage in private matches although the company is not saying how much control they will have over the options for these engagements.

The Electronic Arts Brazil video says that all the new content set to arrive for Star Wars Battlefront in February will be free for all those playing, which is good news for those who believed that Battle of Jakku was the last piece of new DLC that came with no attached price tag.

It's unclear when the update and associated new content for the shooter will be offered, given that a little over one week remains in January.

Star Wars Battlefront will also deliver paid DLC covered by the Season Pass

DICE has not offered any information about the first paid downloadable content pack for its most recent release but says that gamers who pick up all of it will be able to play as eight other heroes and villains, with no names mentioned while experiencing four new maps and game modes as well as more Star Cards, weapons and items.

Presumably, the four planned DLC deliveries will all take place before the end of the year, with each of them prices around 20 dollars or Euro.

In the meantime, DICE is also planning to deliver updates that will tweak the core mechanics of the shooter to make sure that the balance is solid and that gamers find partners for matches regardless of their skills.

Electronic Arts has made it clear that no content associated with Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be offered for Battlefront.

At the same time, the company is planning to make sure that the title is just the first in a long series that tackles all the core moments of the franchise and benefits from the massive plans that Disney has for the movie franchise.

Star Wars Battlefront can be played on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 and does not feature any cross-platform play.
