The developers working on Star Wars Battlefront at DICE are delivering a new major update for the shooter, on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, designed to deliver some new content for gamers who have been engaged with the title since last year while also improving the overall balance.

The official announcement explains that gamers can now play modes like Walker Assault, Supremacy, Turning Point, Blast, Fighter Squadron, Drop Zone, and Heroes vs. Villains on Twilight on Hoth, which offers more variety and a new Survival in the Ice Caves mission has been introduced.

Jundland Wastes, Forest of Endor, Outpost Beta, and SoroSuub Centroplex are the new maps that can be enjoyed in the Turning Point mode that was introduced to Star Wars Battlefront after launch.

A new Film Grain setting slider is offered in the Video menu, and the GNK droid is now live in Attract Mode.

The full list of balance tweaks made to Star Wars Battlefront can be seen by clicking on the button at the end of this article, and it seems that DICE is aiming to make it easier for land bound players to take out air units, while making the A-Wing less powerful in engagements.

When it comes to the heroes and villains featured in the shooter, Luke, Leia, Han Solo and Emperor Palpatine are getting changes and all choices should no longer get stuck in animations in combat.

When it comes to free content, gamers will get another big update in March, which will introduce an Endor map for bigger engagements as well as a new mission for Survival.

Star Wars Battlefront is getting paid DLC in the coming months

Next month the development team is also planning to deliver the first piece of downloadable content for its shooter that's covered by the Season Pass, which is called Outer Rim and will introduce a new map centered on Sullust as well as a chance to do battle in the actual palace of Jabba the Hut.

Later in the year, Star Wars Battlefront will also get a pack linked to Bespin, featuring new locations built around the Cloud City and a new mode.

Finally, a Death Star-themed DLC pack for the game is in development, but its exact content and launch date have not yet been mentioned, with a final pack planned for the first few months of next year.

DICE has also promised to introduce more heroes and villains to Star Wars Battlefront, eight of them in total, but so far the company has not talked about their identities or about how they will affect the existing balance.

The title was well received but it has since lost a lot of players, which means both updates and DLC are required to make sure that a solid community continues to exist around it.

Publisher Electronic Arts has already said that it has more Battlefront video games based on Star Wars in development and that the universe will be used by another experience that BioWare is creating as well as a project that's directed by Amy Hennig.
