Video game developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts are ready to deliver more details about the beta process for Star Wars: Battlefront, which is set to be offered to fans between October 8 and October 12 and will contain a look at the core mechanics of the shooter.

The two companies explain that only three maps and modes will be included and that they will represent just a small taste of the kind of experience that the title will deliver when it is fully launched.

Walker Assault will be offered on Hoth in the beta of Star Wars: Battlefront, with gamers able to create two teams of 20 as the Empire tries to protect its AT-AT's as they assault a base while the Rebels scramble Y-Wing bombers to take them out.

The Drop Zone mode will be featured on the all-new Sullust planet, with two teams of eight players battling to control pods that crash down on the map.

Finally, Star Wars: Battlefront gamers will be able to take part in Survival on Tattooine, an experience centered on working with teammates either online or locally in order to battle a wide array of enemies.

The Companion experience for the shooter will also be offered on the official site, showing gamers how the Base Command card driven mode will work.

Interested gamers will only have to create an EA Account on the official site, but the development team will choose all those who take part.

DICE says that the Origin download for the beta will be around 11 GB, while on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, the package will come in at around 7 GB.

The development team adds, "The Beta level cap with allows you to advance to level five. Once you hit the level cap, you will no longer be able to progress to higher levels though you will still be able to unlock items in the Beta."

None of the progress will be linked with the full version of Star Wars: Battlefront.

The full version of the shooter will be delivered on November 17 on all platforms, and gamers who place a pre-order will get the Battle of Jakku DLC, linked to The Force Awakens, on December 1, while the rest of the community will be able to access it one week later.
