The whole situation with the Galaxy Note 7 certainly caused major financial losses to Samsung, whose brand image suffered a serious hit. Galaxy Note 7 owners are advised to power down their devices and return them to the place of purchase in exchange for another device.

It seems that the majority of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 owners are opting for another Samsung smartphone, said Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure. He added that most of them choose a Galaxy S7, according to Recode.

Samsung upped production for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, while the company is also preparing to offer a Blue Coral variant of the premium model in the series. Sprint’s CEhas O said he is confident Samsung would recover from the damage caused by the Galaxy Note 7 situation.

Note 7 owners get cash incentives for opting for a Samsung phone

The South Korean company is also offering $100 to customers who return their Note 7 and opt for another Samsung device. Cash incentives are certainly proving attractive to some customers. However, others are opting for premium smartphones from other manufacturers, including Apple’s latest device, the iPhone 7 Plus.

Samsung is facing fierce competitors in the Android market as well, with LG’s latest V20 and Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones incorporating one of the best smartphone cameras ever.

Another reason that would convince Note 7 owners to trade in their phones for a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge is the possibility of receiving 50% discounts to next year’s Galaxy S8 or Note 8. Samsung recently announced this offer through the Galaxy Upgrade program in South Korea.

However, the compensation program ends on November 30. The company is expected to announce similar programs in other countries as well, but that remains to be seen.

A recent study showed that up to 30% of Galaxy Note 7 owners who returned the phones at retail stores have opted to switch to the iPhone, while most decided to get another Samsung phone.
