Sony Mobile had pulled from the US market a long time ago, and the Japanese company has no intention to return due to increased competition.

However, each year Sony will make its flagship smartphones available through its official online store, so Xperia fans are still able to grab the company's products. There's just one caveat: they are not compatible with CDMA networks in the United States.

The same goes for the newly launched Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact, which will only support GSM networks in the country.

As mentioned by Sony last month, the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact are now available for purchase in the United States through its online store, as well as major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, B&H, and Newegg.

Different colors available, but not all retailers sell them

The Xperia Z5 is available for purchase for $600 at all the key resellers while the Xperia Z5 Compact costs only $500 outright. Best Buy seems to offer the Xperia Z5 Compact for just $450 and also throws in free shipping.

Customers who prefer a particular color will have to check each and every one of these retailers since they are not selling all color options. For example, the Xperia Z5 Compact is available in coral, black, white and yellow at B&H, but Amazon and Best Buy only have the black version available.

The Xperia Z5 can be had in black, gold, green, and white via B&H, but it's only available in black at Amazon US.

Another downside is the fact that these smartphones do not come with the fingerprint sensor, a feature that's available in all other versions of Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact.

“Building a stable business in the U.S. market continues to be an important area of focus in helping Sony Mobile pursue profit by optimizing business scale.

“We are excited about the introduction of Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact unlocked in the U.S., particularly as we see a growing trend in the unlocked market,” said Kunihiko Shiomi, president of Sony Mobile Communications North America.
