Sony Mobile launched its flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z5, back in September at IFA 2015 trade fair, but the device wasn't officially introduced in the United States.

The Japanese company withdrew from the US market a long time ago due to the fierce competition from other brands, which is one of the reasons not many Sony smartphones are available at major carriers in the country.

There have been some exceptions over the years, and it looks like the Xperia Z5 will be one of them as the device has just been announced for the US market.

They will go on sale in early February

According to Sony Mobile US, the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact will be available for purchase in the United States beginning February 7.

Both handsets will be available at major retailers across the country for prices ranging between $500 and $600. Customers will be able to purchase the unlocked version of Xperia Z5 for $600 outright while the Xperia Z5 Compact costs $500.

The launch of Xperia Z5 smartphones in the US has been announced on Sony US' official Facebook page, along with their release date:

“Introducing for the first time in the US, the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact smartphones from Sony. Featuring the world’s fastest autofocus camera, PS4 Remote Play, and up to two days of battery life on a single charge, you’ll never miss a moment with the Xperia Z5 series. Available February 7th at Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H.”

If you plan on purchasing any of the two smartphones, then you should know Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact will only work on AT&T and T-Mobile networks, but not on Sprint and Verizon.

Since both Xperia high-end devices pack 4G LTE support, customers will be able to take advantage of blazing-fast speeds on AT&T and T-Mobile bands.
