We reported to you yesterday that Sony Mobile India teased the upcoming release of Xperia M5 mid-range Android smartphone for September 9.

It appears that the teaser was right as the Japanese company has just confirmed that Xperia M5 Dual is now available for purchase in India for no less than Rs 37,990 outright, which is about $570 or €515.

That's quite a high price for the Indian market, especially considering that the same Xperia M5 Dual has been released in Hong Kong as well and costs only $475 / €425.

But that was to be expected since, for reasons unknown, Sony always prices its smartphones higher than usual in India.

The Xperia M5 Dual is now listed on Sony's website and potential customers will soon be able to order one in either black or gold color.

No single SIM model for India just yet

The single SIM version of Sony Xperia M5 Dual will probably never be launched in India, but it will certainly be available in other countries.

Moving on to specs, the Xperia M5 Dual is a pretty powerful smartphone since it comes equipped with a 64-bit 2GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6795 Helio X10 processor, a PowerVR G6200 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM.

Also, the smartphone packs 16GB of storage inside, which can be further expanded up to 200GB via microSD card slot.

Sony Xperia M5 Dual sports a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features scratch-resistant glass.

It features IP68 certification, which makes it dust proof and water resistant. The smartphone ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box and packs a non-removable 2,600 mAh battery.

Another strong point of the Xperia M5 Dual would be the impressive 21.5-megapixel camera on the back, which features phase detection autofocus, LED flash and 4K video recording, as well as the no-less-impressive 13-megapixel camera in the front.
