14 DAY TRIAL // Just days after Sony announced that it would focus solely on its Xperia smartphone series, the Japanese handset maker released the latest device in its portfolio, the Xperia XA Ultra. The company posted images and specs on its website.
Information released by the company confirms previous rumors that pointed to a 6-inch screen and 1080p resolution for the Xperia XA Ultra. The screen will have a pixel density of 367ppi and edge-to-edge display, quite impressive for a mid-range phone. The device is just 7.6 mm thin and encased in a metal frame.
The Sony Xperia XA Ultra features a Mediatek Helio P10 chipset, coupled with 3GB of RAM and internal storage of 16GB, expandable to 200GB with a microSD card. It will run Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 out of the box.
Impressive camera capabilities
The new smartphone features two cameras, with each sporting LED flash. Rear camera capacity is 21.5MP with Exmor RS sensor incorporating hybrid autofocus. It comes with 16MP selfie shooter and optical image stabilization. The front camera supports a gesture shutter and packs a low-light sensor and wide-angle 88-degree lens.
The rear camera was relocated from the central axis to the upper left corner, and the Xperia XA Ultra won’t be coming with a fingerprint sensor. Still, the main focus of this new phone in the Xperia range is the front and back camera capacity, thus making the handset stand out from other models on the market.
Battery capacity is set to reach just 2,700mAh, and Sony promises to provide up to 2 days of battery life on a single charge. The battery also supports quick charging tools for providing 5.5 hours of use with just 10 minutes of charging. The phone isn’t waterproof, and it doesn’t come with USB Type-C charging port.
The Xperia XA Ultra is set to be launched in July, in multiple colors, including black, white and lime gold. Pricing specifications have yet to be revealed, and Sony is rumored to plan a worldwide release.
