Those who enroll can beta test official software

We reported last week that Sony might have already kicked off the rollout of Android 6.0 Marshmallow for Xperia Z5 family, but for the time being the update is only available in a few countries.

The reason might be the fact that it's still testing the software before releasing it to the public. Some of you might know that Sony debuted a special program called “Concept for Android,” which was meant to gather feedback from users about Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

After many updates to these “concept” builds, it looks like Sony is very close to finishing Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for its Xperia smartphones, and only needs some polishing.

In that regard, Sony announced a brand-new Xperia Beta Program, which is meant to test official software before it gets released to the public, XperiaBlog reports.

This is a completely different program that probably continues the work started by “Concept for Android.” According to Sony, the Xperia Beta Program will enable access to a pre-release beta version of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Limited spots are available for the beta program, so hurry up

If you want to enroll into the Xperia Beta Program, you will have to hurry up and sign up since the amount of users for beta testing is limited.

Keep in mind that you can download Xperia Beta Program for Android for free via Google Play Store. It should work on Xperia smartphones running Android 5.0 Lollipop and up.

It's also worth mentioning that through the Xperia Beta Program, you will be testing Android 6.0 Marshmallow beta for Xperia Z3 (D6603), Xperia Z3 Compact (D5803) and Xperia Z2 (D6503).

Those who are admitted into the beta program will have an open channel with Sony Mobile's developers, so they will be able to report any issues almost in real-time. Here is hoping this beta testing won't last too long.
