After press renders leaked online last month and rumors hinted that the Gear Fit 2 would be announced this month, Samsung has finally unveiled it alongside the Gear IconX wearable device today. The South Korean company has mentioned that "each product is designed with consumers’ fitness needs in mind."

Just as expected, the Gear Fit 2 comes with an embedded GPS and a heart rate monitor for fitness tracking and measurement. It’s available in multiple colors, including black, blue, and pink.

It also features an ergonomic and slim design that culminates with a 1.5-inch Super AMOLED curved display with a 216 x 432 pixel resolution. It comes with a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of RAM, and a 200mAh battery.

The Gear Fit 2 incorporates an Auto Activity Tracking feature that turns on when users start running, walking or cycling. It also boasts a tool that enables data transfers between the S Health and other fitness applications. Moreover, it comes with IP68 certification.

Gear IconX earbuds work as standalone music players

The Gear Fit 2 works as a standalone music player, just like the Gear IconX earbuds. The Gear IconX is available in three different sizes of eartips and wingtips, and can be activated by simply placing the earbuds in the user’s ears.

The Gear IconX can track fitness data such as distance, speed, duration, heart rate, and burned calories. It syncs to Samsung’s S Health application and includes a Voice Guide feature that provides users with voice feedback. It can be quite useful for keeping users motivated, since it provides data on their progress.

Gear IconX supports Bluetooth connectivity and can store 1,000 MP3 songs in its 4GB of internal memory. Users simply need to tap or swipe the earbuds, which, by the way, will be available in black, blue, and white, in order to control the music.

The Gear Fit 2 will arrive on shelves on June 10 for the price of $179 (€161) while the Gear IconX will go on sale at the start of Q3 2016.
